Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) for Pega Cloud applications

BIX is a Pega Cloud add-on service. You use BIX to extract transactional data from your Pega Cloud applications into formats that are suitable for use in other popular business intelligence applications. These high-performance, multi-threaded extraction operations operate independently of Pega PlatformTM.

When Pega provisions a Pega Cloud application for customers licensed to run BIX, Pega configures a separate instance for running BIX. This configuration minimizes the impact of BIX processing on production Pega Cloud performance, since this node does not participate in the load-balancing of end-user sessions.

In Pega Cloud applications running BIX, you can configure the following items:

  • A BIX extract rule for each rule that they want to use, which specifies:
    • Properties to extract.

    • Output file format, XML or CSV (output files are delivered as a single compressed file), or database.

    • Class instances to extract each time the extract rule runs (by specifying filter criteria or by choosing the incremental extraction option to select all instances created or modified since the last run of the extract rule).

  • The application’s connection to a client-managed FTP service to which to push output file.

  • An agent to run each extract rule periodically (usually daily).

For more information, see Running BIX on the cloud.

BIX for on-premises use has additional features. For more information, see this overview, Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX).
