Updating cases in bulk

Updated on November 22, 2021

You can update multiple cases at once by using the Bulk actions form. Update cases in bulk to set the values of case details, such as labels and descriptions, in one step without manually interacting with individual forms.

Note: Only Pega Platform applications that you build with UI Kit support bulk processing.
Tip: To set more case details during a bulk update, customize the pyBulkUpdate section by adding relevant properties to the grid.

To update cases in bulk:

  1. Ensure that your access group is associated with a role that grants you the Work-.PerformBulk privilege.

  2. To bypass validation logic, add a role to your access group that grants you the pxIgnoreBulkValidations privilege.

Bypassing validation logic allows you to reopen or update resolved cases and ignore the validation criteria that are defined in the case type.

  3. In the Case Manager or Case Worker portal, select Bulk actions from the operator menu.

  4. Click Update.

  5. In the Case Type list, select the name of a case type to display its cases.

  6. Add filter criteria to refine the list of cases.
    1. Click + Add Filter .

    2. In the Filter Property field, enter the name of a property to evaluate in each case.

    3. Select a comparator from the Condition list.

    4. In the Filter Value field, enter a case-sensitive value that is compared with the value of the Filter Property .

For example, you can find cases with an urgency that is greater than 80.

    5. Repeat steps a through d to define multiple filters.
    6. Click Filter Cases to display cases that meet all the filter criteria.

  7. For each case in the list, update the values in the Name or Description column.

  8. Click Update.

Cases are updated based on the values that you provide and a status is displayed in the Processing Results column of the case list.
