How to set up a From operator for e-mail correspondence

This article summarizes the steps to create a Notify operator for an application, to identify the source of outgoing email.

Suggested Approach

First obtain the email address(es) to use for sending email ("from" address(es) for the notification emails).   It is recommended that you don't use this email address for receiving email as well, since message delivery failures will get processed erroneously.

If there is the need for only one email address to send from for the whole system, find (or create if it is not there) the Data-EmailAccount instance with pyAccountName "Default" and pyAccountType "Notify".  Fill in the first tab with the necessary information (email address, smtp host, and password), and you're done.

If several outgoing email addresses are required for the system (say one for each application), then create as many Data-EmailAccount instances as necessary, changing the account name but keeping the account type as "Notify".  Then override in each application's class the Work- activity getEmailSenderInfo.   Open up the first step, the Obj-Open, and change the pyAccountName value as appropriate.
