Troubleshooting: Activity parameters containing email addresses can be ambiguous

Symptom

Email addresses often include on or more period or "dot" To notify the system that text is an email address and not a page.property expression, enter the email address with double quote characters:

"john.jones@pega.com"

in the first part or the last part of the address, or both. Typing these addresses into Process Commander can cause issues, as Process Commander may interpret them as a "page.property" expression and then report errors.

For example, one parameter for the standard routing activity Work-.ToProblemFlowOperator is the operator ID of the person to notify. If the operator's email address is typed in with no quotes, an exception occurs in the FlowEvaluate activity, just after the GenerateID activity.

Solution

To notify the system that text is an email address and not a page.property expression, enter the email address with double quote characters:
"john.jones@pega.com"
