Setting the default purpose for data imports

Updated on April 6, 2022

Save time during data imports by setting the default import purpose to the purpose you use the most.

For example, if you set "Update locations" as the default import purpose, the system sets "Update locations" as the default selection in the Purpose list of the Upload file step in the data import process. If you set the default import purpose to a purpose that does not exist, the system displays Add or update as the default purpose.

  1. In Dev Studio, search for the pyPreProcessDataImport activity and open it.
  2. Click Save as.
  3. Click Create and open.
  4. Click Expand to see method parameters.
  5. In the row containing the pyDefaultImportPurpose property, in the PropertiesValue field, enter the name of the purpose, in quotation marks, that you want to set as the default, for example, "UpdateLocations".
