DBMS0002: Report failed due to socket time-out - PostgreSQL

Pega Predictive Diagnostic Cloud™ (PDC) creates a DBMS0002 event when a query times out in the PostgreSQL database connection.

Reason for the event

When a report fails because a query execution exceeds the time-out threshold in the PostgreSQL database connection, Pega Platform™ generates an exception. PDC identifies and parses the exception to find the name of the faulty report. For every report that fails due to a query time-out, PDC creates a DBMS0002 event and a corresponding Socket Time-out case.

Example message text

PREPROD has failed due to socket time-out exception

Recommended next steps

To resolve this issue, perform the following actions:

  • Review other alerts for the same interaction.

In Event Viewer, confirm that a database query is taking too long. Evaluate the query, tables, and indexes to search for performance improvements.

  • Engage a database specialist as a subject matter expert to analyze and optimize the query's performance.

  • Contact the infrastructure team to verify the time-outs that are defined on the database server and in the JDBC driver.
