How to update existing views to increase performance

Updated on September 20, 2019

Summary

Starting with V5.4, the clipboard has a light-weight, optimized format that enhances performance. For reports generated using previous versions, you can take advantage of this performance improvement by making a simple adjustment. Enabling the Read-Only feature causes Process Commander to mark the Code-Pega-List page returned by the list view or summary view at runtime as read-only. This ensures that later processing cannot alter the values of properties on the embedded pages. The report display

  • always matches data exactly as retrieved from the database
  • cannot be altered through post-processing

Internal processing reuses certain clipboard pages, reducing database access and improving performance. When the results page is marked as read-only, subsequent processing can delete embedded pages (with the Page-Remove or Obj-Filter method) but cannot alter the contents of the embedded pages.

Suggested Approach

  1. Open a list view or summary view report created using a version of Process Commander prior to V5.4.
  2. Open the Contenttab.
  3. In the Report Source section, Enable Read-Only. Note: This box must be clear if the Edit In Excel option (on the Organizetab) is checked or if your application requires processing the embedded pages.

  4. Click Save.
