Keeping current with Pega
This document provides information about keeping your Pega solutions up-to-date, both for Pega Cloud Services and on-premises.
For Pega Cloud Services, Pegasystems Inc. encourages all clients to allow Pega to keep your environments current on the latest Pega Platform full release or patch, in addition to the periodic infrastructure maintenance that Pega Cloud Services performs in client environments.
For on-premises deployments, you can upgrade to the latest Pega Platform release to take advantage of the latest Platform capabilities. You can keep your Pega solutions current by applying hotfixes and patches to your current release.

Pega Cloud Services ensures that you have access to the latest features and capabilities of Pega Platform and your Pega applications by performing periodic system maintenance on your Pega Cloud environments. This is part of the standard maintenance policy Pegasystems Inc. provides to clients as defined in Pega Cloud maintenance and types of system updates.
- Keeping on-premises Pega Platform current
Deploy Pega Platform to install a new version, to take advantage of new features in an upgrade, or to apply cumulative bug fixes in a patch to your 8.x system. For customized hotfixes, use the Hotfix Manager.
- Migrating existing mashups
To ensure that upgrades to Pega Platform 8.5 and later work seamlessly, you must migrate your existing mashups. Beginning in Pega Platform 8.5, Pega Web Mashups include a channel ID in the mashup code for validation with your mashup server.
- Managing upgrade fixes with Deployment Manager
Beginning in Pega Infinity 8.4.2, during a major or minor upgrade, you can use Deployment Manager to promote the latest application functionality to your production environment.
- Using automated smoke test suites to reduce regression testing effort
Use Pega built-in automated testing capabilities, which include PegaUnit and Pega scenario testing, for optimized and effective regression testing of your Pega applications. By using these testing capabilities, you reduce the time that performing regression testing takes.
- Validating the completion of upgrade testing
For Pega Infinity upgrades on Pega Cloud Services, during the Basic upgrade phase, the Application Testing Tracker automatically verifies that you have completed upgrade testing on the cloned, upgraded staging environment before Pega upgrades your production environment. By using this service, you can monitor what you need to test so that the upgrade to production proceeds.
