Mobile app branding and layout

Before you build a mobile app, you can customize its branding and layout to meet your company's specific requirements. Upload images to Pega Platform, and then use them to customize the splash screen, application icon, and other branding assets.

You can choose between a layout that allows you to reuse an existing web portal, to import your existing Pega Mobile Client-based mobile app, for example, from previous versions of Pega Platform, and deploy it instantly, and a layout that lets you prepare for future developments in Pega Mobile and use new features, such as navigation rules and native navigation elements.

On Android devices, you can additionally change the presentation of a mobile app by customizing the title and message of the notification that is displayed in the device notification area when the mobile app is in the background.

You can also set certain presentation settings, such as the default screen orientation or splash screen background color, at the mobile app executable files building stage. For more information, see the Overriding Channels and interfaces form settings with custom parameters Pega Community article.

If you do not provide custom assets, your mobile app applies the default Pega branding.

  • Configuring a layout for the reuse of a web portal

Instantly deploy an existing Pega Mobile Client-based mobile app that you imported, for example, from a previous version of Pega Platform, before you start adding new features and functions. Alternatively, use a web portal that is different from the default one that is specified in the access group for the application.

  • Configuring the bottom bar

Enhance the usability of your mobile app by configuring the bottom bar, for example, to enable instant navigation between application screens, so that users can switch between multiple open cases without reloading the content or losing unsaved changes. Also, modify the bottom bar to let users create a case, display a menu, or log out of the application directly from the bottom bar.

  • Customizing fonts for the native mobile app components

Customize the fonts for the text that is displayed on the header or the bottom bar of your mobile app, to conform to your company's branding and to improve readability.

  • Replacing the icon font in imported applications

Ensure that your mobile app is displayed properly with the Mobile – Slide Up layout, by replacing the font for icons on the header or the bottom bar. Complete this procedure when the UI Kit in your application is in an earlier version than version 14, and you do not add the latest UI Kit to your application stack.

  • Generating installation packages

Convert your application into an app that users can install on their mobile devices. You can generate both Android and iOS apps, which helps you meet the needs of a wide array of mobile users.
