Improving the synchronization of offline-enabled mobile apps with large data pages

Ensure a smooth user experience at run time and improve the speed of synchronization after your offline-enabled mobile app reestablishes connectivity by configuring the app to synchronize only new or altered data.

To achieve this improvement, store reference data in large data pages that synchronize only new or altered records instead of synchronizing the entire data page.

As a minimum requirement to ensure that your offline-enabled app works as expected, declare all data pages above 5 MB as large data pages. For best performance, declare all data pages above 1 MB as large data pages.

You can source large data pages from the following entities:

  • Report definitions
  • Connectors
  • Activities
  • Data transforms
Create a Pega Platform application and configure a mobile channel for the application. For more information, see Designing applications for offline mode and Setting up mobile apps.
After you make changes to your application that affect case management, data management, or the user interface, preview your app on a mobile device to ensure that the app looks and operates as expected. For more information, see Previewing mobile apps.
  1. Create a data page for storing large reference data in one of the following ways:

  2. Declare the data page as large.

For more information, see Declaring a data page as large.
