Getting Started with Pega Cloud Services

Congratulations! You have received your new Pega Cloud Services environments, and are ready to run and manage your Pega applications.

Pega Cloud Services provisions the hardware for your environment and installs all of your required software. It is ready for your use. There are some setup steps that only you can complete, such as entering in your user information. This article provides a path through the various startup steps.

  1. After your organization signs the contract, while Pega Cloud Services provisions your environments, you should define your Pega Cloud Services Support Contacts.

  2. When your environments are ready, you will receive emails on how to access your environment.

  3. Pega Cloud Services sets up a default maintenance window for system updates and maintenance. At this point, determine whether you wish to change the default.

  4. After you receive your credentials and can log into your new Pega Cloud Services environments, you should review the appropriate Pega Application Implementation Guides in order to develop your applications. These guides include any post-installation steps required for your application.

  5. Secure your application by setting up the organizational and user structures to precisely limit access to your application. Follow the details in our documentation to set up your users.

  6. While you develop your application, Pega recommends tracking your Pega projects using Agile Studio.

  7. To make the setup process as easy as possible, Pega Cloud Services includes several important tools and services. Pega provides Pega Deployment Manager to help you as you make changes to your applications

  8. You can complete your network connectivity in your application by setting up direct networking connections and other network engineering tasks.

  9. You can monitor your application by using Pega Predictive Diagnostic Cloud.

  10. You can extract your data to an external database by using Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX).

    As part of the sales process, clients define the following Pega Cloud support contact roles:

  • Accessing your environment

    When your licensed Pega Cloud Services environment is ready, you will receive one or more New System Release Notification emails with information about your new environments.

  • Specifying your maintenance window

    Periodic system maintenance is essential to maintaining the on-going stability and security of your Pega Cloud Services environments, as well as to the evolution of Pega Cloud Services.

  • Developing your application

    For each Pega application, Pega maintains guides for clients who install and then maintain the Pega applications themselves. As a Pega Cloud Services client, you do not need to worry about installing or upgrading Pega software since Pega Cloud Services takes care of that for you.

  • Securing your application

    To secure your application, set up the organizational and user structures to precisely limit access to your application. You must configure groups and roles, and create operator IDs for each user who will be able to carry out tasks using your application, depending upon their access, group, and role.

  • Tracking projects using Agile Studio

    The ultimate goal of software development is to provide a reliable delivery that will drive business value and outcomes. Traditional software development approaches are being successfully replaced with more iterative and adaptable approaches for faster deliveries and time to value. When fully implemented, the results can produce significant innovative, competitive business benefits.

  • Moving your application to production: DevOps and Pega Deployment Manager

    Your Pega application will require your input and changes. For each application, you are responsible for creating role-based access controls, and then providing user IDs that implement those controls for all your customers (for more information, see Securing your application with Pega Platform Admin Studio). You can also customize your application to reflect the way your company does business, as Pega apps are “built for change.”

  • Supporting your applications and your Pega Cloud Services environment
