Creating a Facebook Ads app and credentials

As part of the process of connecting Paid Media Manager to a Facebook Ads destination, you must have an account in Facebook Ads and use the credentials for that account to configure a destination in Paid Media Manager.

  1. If you do not already have a Facebook Busines Manager account, create one.
  2. To add your Facebook page to your Facebook Business Manager account, in Facebook Business Manager, click Business SettingsAccountsPages, and then add an existing page or create a new one.

  3. To add an ad account, in Facebook Business Manager, click Business SettingsAccountsAd accounts, and then select an existing page or create a new one.

  4. To enable API integration for the Facebook Ads account, create a Facebook app.
    1. Log in to Facebook for developers.
    2. Click My AppsAdd New App.
    3. Fill in the necessary details and create a Facebook app.
    4. Log in to Facebook Business Manager.
    5. Click Business SettingsAccountsApps.
    6. Click Add, and then add the app that you created.
  5. To use the API integration to create artifacts in the ad account, link the Facebook app to an ad account.
    1. Log in to Facebook for developers.
    2. Click My Apps<App Name>.
    3. Click SettingsAdvanced.
    4. Select the ad account that you linked with your Facebook Business Manager account in step 3.
    5. Click Save changes.
  6. Generate the access token which Paid Media Manager requires to connect to a Facebook Ads destination.
    1. Log in to Facebook for developers.
    2. Click My Apps<App Name>.
    3. Expand the Products header.
    4. In the Add a product section, select Marketing API.
    5. Click Marketing APITools.
    6. In the Select Token Permissions section, select the required permissions, and then click Get Token.
    7. Copy the access token.
      You need the token to continue setting up the Paid Media Manager connection to the Facebook Ads destination. For more information, see Configuring Facebook Ads destinations in Paid Media Manager.
