Viewing outcomes in Scenario Planner

Updated on August 4, 2022

Use scenario planning to understand the impact of changes made in Next-Best-Action Designer. Browse the results of next-best-action audience simulations and monitor progress towards business objectives in a simple, transparent interface. View the outcomes and compare two simulations to understand the trade-offs across all issues and groups, or drill down to the details of a single action and channel.

Important: Because Pega Customer Decision Hub follows best practice guidelines for business change management, you should only run simulation testing in a dedicated Simulations or Business Operations Environment. For more information, see Deployment architecture for Pega Customer Decision Hub. As such, the Scenario Planner menu item is inactive on any environment that is designated a Level 5 Production environment.
Pega Customer Decision Hub
  1. In Next-Best-Action Designer, create and run an audience simulation that corresponds to a new next-best-action configuration that you want to test.
Important: Make sure to configure the following simulation settings:
    • In the Next-Best-Action scope section, click the Engagement policies and arbitration radio button.
    • Select the Include a second-pass simulation without business levers (for Scenario Planner) check box.
  2. Run the simulation that you created.
Result: Two simulations will run in parallel: one based on your Next-Best-Action Designer configuration with levers, and one based on your Next-Best-Action Designer configuration without any levers. The two simulations are run in order to display the opportunity cost that is associated when applying the levers. For more information, see Comparison simulation.
  3. In the Pega Customer Decision Hub, click DiscoveryScenario Planner.
  4. Use the Scope list to define the range of the context in which you view the data.
  5. In the Simulation, select the simulation that you created before.
  6. Optional: Measure the difference between two simulations by selecting Comparison simulation.
For more information, see Comparison simulation.
  7. Click Apply.
What to do next:
  • Review the simulation results. For more information, see Scenario planning results.
  • Click Export Excel file, to save the simulation results as an .xlsx file.
