User interface guidelines for offline-enabled applications

Build your application by using the Theme Cosmos UI architecture or UI Kit.

For Theme Cosmos applications, download the ThemeCosmosCfW ruleset from Pega Marketplace. For the download link, see Theme Cosmos for Pega Client for Windows.

For UI Kit applications, build your application by using the latest version of the UI Kit design system that is available for your Pega Platform version, for example, UI Kit14 for Pega Platform version 8.7. Additionally, when you build such an application, use an iframe-less dynamic container in a screen layout and use data pages or a local list to source data. You can also use back-to-back assignments in a standard flow for offline mode.

Pega Platform 8.3 and earlier

To ensure that your offline-enabled Pega application runs correctly in Client for Windows, build your application by using the latest version of the UI Kit design system that is available for your Pega Platform version, for example, UI Kit 14 for Pega Platform version 8.3. Additionally, when you build such an application, use an iframe-less dynamic container in a screen layout and use data pages or a local list to source data. You can also use back-to-back assignments in a standard flow for offline mode.

Controls and actions in offline mode

Applications that run in Client for Windows support a limited set of controls and actions when the applications are in offline mode. For more information about the controls and actions that are supported by Pega Platform applications in offline mode, refer to the following topics:

Certain controls and actions supported in offline mode are not supported at this point by Client for Windows or they have limited function:

• Address map control
• Scan barcode/QR code action

Authentication

For both online-only and offline-enabled applications, Client for Windows only supports the Basic type of authentication.
