When you upgrade Pega Product Composer for Healthcare, to preserve your unique case IDs, export the case ID counters to a product file, upgrade the application, and then import the case ID counters.

In each release, Pega Product Composer for Healthcare reserves the numbers 1 - 1500 as unique ID counters for sample data. When you create cases in your application, the system assigns numbers beginning with 1501. For example, if you create five benefits, the ID counters are BEN-1501 through BEN-1505. If you create five products, the ID counters are PRD-1501 through PRD-1505. During an upgrade, the system overwrites the ID counters for your cases.

To preserve the unique ID counters for your existing cases and avoid Unique ID violation messages after you upgrade your application, complete the steps in the following procedures:

• Exporting your case ID counters to a product file before you upgrade your application
• Importing your case ID counters after you upgrade your application

Exporting your case ID counters to a product file before you upgrade your application

Before you upgrade to a new release, to preserve the unique IDs of your Pega Product Composer for Healthcare cases, export the ID counters to a product file.

1. Log in to the Pega Platform by entering your administrator credentials.
2. In the header of Dev Studio, click Create > SysAdmin > Product.
   For additional information on how to create a product rule, follow the steps in Creating a product rule by using the create menu.
3. On the Edit product page, in the Class instances to include section, complete the following values:
   a. In the Name field, enter Data-UniqueID.
   b. In the When filter field, enter and click IsPCSWOPrefix.
4. Save the rule.
5. At the bottom of the page, click Create product file.
6. In the Create Product File dialog box, enter PCSUniqueIds.zip and click OK.

Importing your case ID counters after you upgrade your application

You import the case ID counters after you upgrade the application to restore them to your existing cases. When you create new cases, the system continues the established numbering sequence.

Procedure

1. Log in to the Pega Platform by entering your administrator credentials.
2. In the header of Dev Studio, click Application > Distribution > Import.
3. Click Choose file, browse for the PCSUniqueIds.zip file, upload it, and follow the wizard instructions.
