Pega Robotic Automation overview

Pega Robotic Automation provides the integration tools to rapidly transform an organization by automating time-consuming, repetitive tasks, irrespective of task complexity, the technology of the underlying applications, or human involvement (attended-human assisted robots or unattended-unassisted robots).

Pega Robotic Automation was built to monitor and automate applications to increase productivity in the following ways:

  • Rapid solution development and deployment
  • Automate applications in the background, off-screen, and in parallel while a user is working
  • Extensible architecture that is not limited to the API exposed by vendors
  • Stable, reliable, and deterministic automation for supported technologies
  • No need to customize for each implementation

Pega Robotic Automation bridges disparate systems and eliminates repetitive manual data input, manual data collection, searches, and calculations to increase productivity, reduce errors, and present data from multiple systems in a single unified view. The robotic automations that you create can help you perform the following tasks:

  • Onboard customers and employees
  • Update information across multiple systems
  • Retrieve information from multiple systems
  • Provide faster and more accurate customer service
  • Reconcile financials, periodic statements, and invoices
  • Increase productivity and engagement
  • Improve market intelligence
  • Reduce errors
  • Increase data security and safeguard data privacy

By harnessing the power of Pega Robotic Automation’s deep-level integration, you can quickly leverage robots that deliver predictable and accurate results with no changes to the underlying target applications. Our non-invasive technology does not require access to source code or the APIs of the target applications. It works at the event and object level and requires no code changes to your target applications.

Technologies that you can integrate

Pega Robotic Automation technology works with nearly any application and any language, including a long list of widely-used 32- and 64-bit applications and technologies:

  • Desktop, web, mainframe, Java, .NET, Cloud/SaaS, and so on
  • Citrix and virtualized applications
  • Legacy or custom applications with or without APIs
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, REST, SOAP, PDF, and OCR for screens
  • Citrix, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Java, Microsoft .NET, SAP, and Siebel

Adding support for additional applications and technologies is an ongoing process. For more information, see the Application Support Matrix. This matrix lists technologies that Pega Robotic Automation automates by using injection. Other technologies, such as support for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Accessibility are also included and do not depend on injection techniques.
