Why don’t pre-processing activities, circumstanced flows, and assignments on embedded pages work with Bulk Processing?

A manager asks: I am using the Bulk Processing features to process several assignments with a flow action.

This flow action references both a pre-processing activity and a post-processing activity. Only the post-processing activity of the flow action is called.

Why doesn’t the pre-processing activity of the flow action run?

Bulk processing does not open the work object when the flow action is displayed. Therefore, you should not specify pre-processing activities in a flow action if you intend to use it with Bulk Processing.

Understand that Bulk Processing is also not intended for use with the following:

  • Circumstanced flows
  • Assignments on embedded pages

Like pre-processing activities, circumstanced flows cannot be bulk processed because the work object is not opened when the flow action is displayed.
