Setting the context of a collection step

Updated on August 16, 2022

Each step in a collection has a context, or primary page, that determines the rules and data it can reference. The context of a collection step is analogous to the step page of an activity step.

The context you select can restrict the available options in the Action section and Response actions section for a step.

Supported context types

Before setting the context of a step, ensure that you have populated the Pages & Classes tab.

In the Context section, select an option in the Execute on list. The following types are supported:

OptionDescription
Current page Use the primary page of the collection when this step is run.

This is the default option.

List/group Use a Page List or Page Group as the primary page when this step is run.

The List/group field appears when this option is selected. Enter the name of a Page Group or Page List property. Specifying an invalid Page Group or Page List in this field results in an error upon saving the form.

At run time, the collection iterates over the Page List or Page Group. For each element it finds in the list, it calls the rule or method specified in the Actions section, followed by any response actions.

You can optionally define a condition to evaluate before each iteration.

Other page Use the specified page as the primary page when this step is run.

The Page field appears when this option is selected. Enter the name of a Single Page property.

Note: To see the class of a specified page property, click the List/group or Other page field and press the Down Arrow key.
