Resetting the Interaction History at the end of a test run

Updated on October 7, 2020

Interaction History for Pega Customer Decision Hub and Pega Marketing stores the outcomes of all customer interactions, that is, how each individual customer responded to each action that they received. Information about each interaction is written into the appropriate Interaction History database table. Interaction History is always on, so data resulting from test runs is also written to the same database tables.

Since the AI models that govern Next-Best-Action use Interaction History records to obtain data about a customer's past decisions, keeping the results of old test runs in your staging environment may interfere with later testing. For that reason, it is a good practice to clear Interaction History results at the end of a test run.

Interaction History results are stored in PR_DATA_IH_ tables, which are by default associated with the PegaDATA database rule. To reset the Interaction History after a test run, truncate the ${ihdataschema}.PR_DATA_IH_FACT table from your database client.

The process should only be used in staging environments. Do not attempt to clear or truncate Interaction History tables in your production environment, as doing so may cause relevant data about your customers' history to be lost. Always make sure that your production data is securely stored.
