Viewing the roles that have a privilege

Version:

To understand who has various privileges, you can view the roles that have a privilege. You can do this in various ways. The way you view roles and privileges depends on your familiarity with role and privilege names.

  • If you know the privilege name, complete the following steps to view all roles that have the privilege.

    1. In the navigation panel, click Records Security Privilege and open the privilege you want to view.

    2. On the Roles tab, view the roles that have the privilege.

  • If you do not know the privilege name, use Access Manager to view privileges for the roles in your application.

  • Reviewing user privileges for a role by using Access Manager

In Access Manager you can see all the associated privileges for a selected role in a selected class. You can also generate a report that shows all the privileges granted to each case type.

  • Granting privileges by using Access Manager

You can use Access Manager grant privileges to users with different roles to access specific case and data types.

  • Understanding role permissions and privileges in Access Manager

Privileges complement the security and access control features provided by access roles by restricting access to specific rules rather than to entire classes. A privilege associates an access role with a rule that needs to be secured. Create privileges to more precisely define the access control features that are provided by Access of Role to Object rules. A privilege is identified by its name and Applies to class.

  • Creating a privilege

You can associate many rule types with privileges to more precisely define the access control features that are provided by Access of Role to Object rules. You create a privilege by using the Privilege rule form.

  • Configuring an access role

To define a set of permissions within an application, configure an access role.
