Applying hotfixes to an on-premises system
Hotfixes are software updates that Pega creates to fine-tune the behavior of a release of Pega Platform.
Apply hotfixes to your system with tools that are available from the user interface and the command line. To use these tools, you must have administrator rights. You can perform the same actions with all of these tools
At any given time, a hotfix on your system can be in one of these states:
- Not installed – The hotfix was uploaded but is not yet installed on your system. Pega Platform cannot use the hotfix.
- Installed but uncommitted – The hotfix is installed on your system. Pega Platform can use the hotfix, but the hotfix can be rolled back to remove it from the system.
- Rolled back – The hotfix was installed, but has since been removed from your system. Pega Platform cannot use the hotfix.
- Committed – The hotfix exists on your system permanently and cannot be rolled back.

All available hotfixes are listed in the latest hotfix catalog.
- Obtaining hotfixes
If you encounter problems with Pega Platform that might be addressed by a hotfix, scan your system to generate a hotfix status report. Based on the report results, request a specific hotfix from Global Client Support.
- Preparing to install hotfixes
After you download a hotfix package, prepare your system for updates.
- Installing hotfix packages
After you have obtained the hotfix and prepared to install it, update your system with the new functionality.
- Rolling back hotfixes
If an uncommitted hotfix introduces unwanted changes to your system, you can remove it by rolling it back. You cannot roll back committed hotfixes. If you have more than one uncommitted hotfix, roll them all back and reinstall the hotfixes you want to keep.
- Committing hotfixes
Commit all uncommitted hotfixes to make the hotfixes a permanent part of the system.
- Verifying hotfix installation results
After you install hotfixes, verify that the installation was successful.
