Starting, stopping, and restarting agents

Updated on April 5, 2022

Normally, all agents start each time that you start your Pega Platform system. Agents running on a specific node start when that node starts.

For testing and debugging problems with agent activities, you can use the Agent Management landing page to monitor, control, and manage agents.

Note: If you modified an agent rule and changed the schedule, delete the agent schedule instance and let the master agent re-create the agent schedule from the latest version of the agent rule. Starting or stopping the agent from the Agent Management landing page does not update the agent schedule.

To access the Agent Management landing page and view the list of agents and the configuration of email notifications on agent failure, you must have the PegaRULES:SysOpsObserver role. To perform all available actions on agents, for example, to start or stop an agent, and configure email notifications on agent failure, you must also have the PegaRULES:SysOpsAdministrator role.

  1. In the navigation pane of Admin Studio, click ResourcesAgents.
  2. Select the check boxes corresponding to the agents you want to start, stop, or restart.
  3. Click Start, Stop, or Restart at the top of the agent list to start, stop, or restart the agent.
