Setting log levels for individual loggers

Updated on May 11, 2022

When you create a log category, all the loggers that you associate with this category have the same log level. You can assign a different log level to individual loggers.

Before you begin: To edit log categories, you must have the pzLogLevelAdministrator privilege.
When you associate a log level with a log category, the log messages of this category are written to a log file. The log level applies to all the loggers that you associate with the category. Set a log level for an individual logger within a category if you want this logger to work on a different log level than the category. For example, when log messages of this logger are currently more or less useful for debugging than other loggers in this category.
Note: The changes that you make affect a current node and are not persisted after a restart.
  1. In the navigation pane of Admin Studio, click ResourcesLog categories.
  2. Click ActionsAdvanced settings.
  3. In the Logger name field, enter the name of the logger for which you want to change the log level.
See the list of all the available loggers by pressing the Down Arrow key.
  4. From the Current level drop-down list, select a new log level for the logger.
  5. Click Close.
