Harness form - Presenting Flow Actions

Perform harnesses ( Work-.Perform ) present flow actions in an action section named Work-.pyActionArea. This section is included in Work-.pyWorkBodyLeft (which is included in the section Work-.pyWorkBody ), and is not visible in the harness.

By default, the action section contains an Other Actions menu bar in its header that enables users to select other possible connector and local flow actions. An Add Work submenu allows users to start supporting processes, or add child cases. The menu uses a pxLink control that references the Work-. pyWorkActionsPerform navigation rule.

You can modify the presentation of other possible actions as follows:

  1. Open the section Work-.WorkBodyLeft and save it to your application ruleset using the same Purpose key part.

  2. On the Layout tab, turn on wireframe mode.

  3. Select the section include Work-.pyActionArea and click the View properties icon.

  4. In the Include Section properties panel, select the Use Section gear icon.

  5. In the Parameters dialog, use the following options:

    Parameter Description
Display action as Select one of the following:
    • Button — Displays connector flow actions in buttons at the bottom of the form. Displays an Add Work drop-down list on the right side of the section header.
    • Drop Down — Displays a drop-down list of local and connector flow actions on the left side of the header and an Add Work drop-down list on the right side.
    • Link — Displays connector flow actions as clickable links and an Add Work drop-down list on the right side of the header. The most likely action appears in the section header.
    • Menu Bar — Default. Displays a click-action menu containing connector and local flow actions, and add-work items on right side of the header. The most likely action appears (determined by the percentages established for each action in the flow chart) on the left side. Users can click Submit or Continue at the bottom of the screen to submit the action rather than picking it from the list.
Show selected action as title Appears if you select Drop Down. Select to have the most likely action appear in the section header.

If you do not select this option, the most likely action appears as the first selectable item in the list.

Enter key submits user action Select to enable users to submit the action when they press the Enter key.
  6. Click OK to close the dialog.

  7. Click OK in the Section Include properties panel.

  8. Save the .pyWorkBodyLeft section.

In certain contexts, your application can present a flow action as a modal dialog.

  • Keystores

A keystore is a file that contains keys and certificates that you use for encryption, authentication, and serving content over HTTPS. In Pega Platform, you create a keystore data instance that points to a keystore file.

  • Modal dialog box

A modal dialog box combines a pop-up window with a flow action, as the front-most screen where the user is working.
