Creating an External web component

Version:

Only available versions of this content are shown in the dropdown
Applicable to Theme Cosmos applications

Improve user experience by adding an external web component section to a layout, a region, another section, or a cell in a layout. At run time, the section allows you to connect to external applications and delegate access to OAuth 2.0-protected resources. For example, users can log on to Facebook from Pega Platform by using the section, and access photographs in their Facebook account.

Do not add the External web component to repeating layouts because the system does not allow you to configure the section to perform different actions based on the data specific to each row. If you add this section to a repeating layout, all the sections inside the repeating layout use the same data at run time.
  1. In the navigation pane of Dev Studio, click Records.

  2. Expand the User Interface category, and then click Section.

  3. Search for and open an existing section.

  4. If the section is based on a template, in the section editor header, click convert to full section editor, and then confirm the conversion.

  5. On the Design tab, expand the Data display list, and then drag the External web component section onto the work area.

  6. Click Submit to save your changes.

Depending on your business needs, you can now further customize the look of the section. For more information, see Configuring an External web component

Provide your users with access to external web resources by configuring an External web component section. By setting up OAuth 2.0 authentication, mashup, and authorization, you can link your application to an external product at run time.
