Increase efficiency by sharing remote case types between applications (8.6)
Provide tools for users of your applications to resolve work faster and more efficiently by creating remote case types. When you create remote case types, users use only one application to process cases from multiple applications, without having to log in and out of the different applications several times a day. Consider a scenario in which a customer service representative (CSR) reviews insurance claims from business customers. The CSR needs to log in to several applications, such as Life insurance claims, Health insurance claims, and Vehicle insurance claims. Instead of switching between applications, the CSR can now perform work in the context of a single application that sources case types from other applications. In this use case, you can create a Business insurance claims application, and then create connections with the remaining applications. Consequently, the CSR needs only to log in to the Business insurance claims application, and create cases related to life insurance claims, health insurance claims, and vehicle insurance claims. You build your case types in the producer applications, and then you create a remote case type to share a ready template of your business process with another, consumer application. The following diagram shows a schema of working with remote case types:
After you establish a connection between applications, creating a remote case type resembles creating a standard case type, as in the following figure:
To support the latest Pega Platform™ features, remote case types are available in App Studio only, and only for applications that you build on Cosmos React.
