The Project Management interface is a feature used by the Project Management Framework (PMF) that lets developers identify and link rules that are worked on to complete assigned Tasks and Bug fixes for one or more application development projects. Optionally, this feature also can be activated for your own external project management system.
When enabled, the Project Explorer icon ()
appears in the Designer Studio explorer panel, and a Project
Management section is added to the New, Save As, and
Check In dialogs. These dialogs create links between project Task Groups (Scrum stories) and their assigned Tasks and Bug fixes to rules that are added or modified and captures the development effort. A real-time communication link automatically transfers and records development notes, rule names, and work effort in the framework. Links are visible in the Project explorer making it easy to find and
access all the rules being worked on for a development effort.
For more
information on PMF, see the Pega Developer Network articlesAbout the Project Management Framework and Tracking development activity in a project.
To enable the Project Management features, click the Enable checkbox on the Advanced tab of the Application rule form. When enabled, developers working with this application have access to the Project Explorer features.
In addition, a link on the Advanced tab
labeled Declare ProjectMgmt opens the Declarative Page
instance named Declare_ProjectMgmt. This rule governs the Project
Management behavior in this system. When you install the Project Management Framework, the values in this rule are preset for you and do not need to be changed.
When the
Project Management features are enabled, a Project Explorer icon ( appears on the Designer Studio explorer panel. The Project
Explorer lists the Task Groups (Scrum Stories) containing tasks and bug fixes assigned to
the Operator ID. Proj-1525 5.4 SP2 When development work is logged for a Task Group, a tree displays for that group that links rule additions and updates to the tasks or bugs. This allows you to
quickly find and open the rules that are being worked on for a project
task or bug fix.
Three options are added to the Designer Studio's application menu. The menu options allow you to switch between projects in the application, view a list of project work assigned to you, and refresh your project task list.
A Project Management section appears on the New, Save As, and Check In dialogs that captures the Task Group, the task or bug within that group, the amount of effort spent and remaining for that task or bug, and development notes that are transferred real-time to PMF. For more information about this feature, see the Pega Developer Network articleTracking development activity in a project.
Optionally, your application developers and testers can document and create work objects automatically, to record enhancements, ideas, and problems in PMF by enabling using the Direct Feedback (pushpin) feature. See the Pega Developer Network article
Sending and enabling Direct Feedback.
