Setting up a Facebook operator ID

Each Facebook user who interacts with the Pega Platform is mapped to a separate Pega Platform operator ID and a user account. This unique account is created automatically when a Facebook user interacts with the Facebook chatbot for the first time. The account is reused in all subsequent interactions with the configured Facebook chatbot.

Before you begin: 

Make sure to keep the Facebook channel and other channel operators separate from the regular Pega Platform operators. To distinguish these types of accounts in the system, set the Full Name field of this template operator account to, for example, ' Facebook Operator ' and add it to an operator group.

Note: To use Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant for Facebook in your application, you must obtain and install the Facebook channel component from Pega Exchange.
  1. Open a Facebook channel interface. For more information, see Configuring the Facebook channel.
  2. Click the Configuration tab.
  3. In the Template Operator ID list, click the name of an existing Pega Platform operator. This value is used as a template from which all accounts are created. Each account has a unique Facebook identifier set as its ID.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Click Save.
