About Organization data instances

The system offers an organization structure that has three levels. The top level, defined by this form, is the organization; the middle level defines divisions, and the lowest level is organization units.

The Process Commander installation creates an organization data instance named pega.com.

Workbaskets

TipAs a best practice, create a workbasket named default@organization for each organization in your system, and have someone review the assignments in that workbasket from time to time. Certain standard routing activities use this workbasket as a last resort when no other suitable destination can be found for an assignment.

External Setup wizard

During installation, the installer can use the External Setup wizard to create an organization data instance for your company or for experimentation and learning.

Older organizations

OldOrganization data instances created before V4.2 SP2 do not reference access groups based on application rules. This approach is deprecated, as it may lead to many distinct RuleSet lists across the user community, not all intended, and adversely affect caching and performance.

For guided assistance in converting access groups based on a list of RuleSets and Versions to access groups based on application rules, select Tools > Convert Operator to Rule-Application.

If you choose to convert an organization data instance to use application rules directly, convert all the divisions in the organization first.
