Flow form
|
Connect a Notify shape to an assignment to cause your flow rule to send correspondence to a work party (identified in the work object) reflecting the creation of the assignment instance. The system creates this correspondence as the assignment is created, not later when the assignment is performed.
For example, a Notify task can send an e-mail message to the originator work party, informing that party that an important processing step for the work object has started, and who has received the assignment.
For flows created or edited with V5.5 or later, the Notify shape is optional. If you prefer, you can record the Notification activity directly in the Assignment shape properties panel. When you save the flow, an envelope icon ( ) on the assignment shape indicates that a Notification activity is defined for the assignment.
1. Drag the Notify shape () onto the flow.
2. When the Notify Properties panel appears, complete these fields:
Field |
Description |
Name |
Enter a name for this Notify task . Choose a name meaningful to application users who see this on the work object history display and the Where-Am-I? diagram. . For example: Email to Adjuster. The task name is only descriptive; it does not affect runtime execution of the flow. This name also appears inside the Notify shape on the Diagram tab. |
Rule |
Select a Notify activity. See Atlas — Standard activities for flows for descriptions of a few Notify activities. |
Parameters |
Enter values for the parameters of the selected activity. These may include the name of the correspondence rule to be used, a subject for the e-mail message, the role or roles of the recipient, and so on. Process Commander validates these parameter values when you exit from Visio editing (unless the flow in is Draft mode). |
3. Click Apply when finished.
4. Connect the Notify task to the bottom edge of an assignment task.
The Notify shape attaches to the bottom of the Assignment shape. However, the activity associated with the notify task runs when the system creates the assignment, not later when the assignment is performed.
(To edit these shape properties after you save the Flow form, open the Diagram tab, right-click the shape, and select the Edit tab on the pop-up window.)
