Troubleshooting — Error 503: PegaRULES cannot initialize

Symptom

When a user attempts to access the Process Commander server, the application server response is Error 503:

Error 503: PegaRULES cannot initialize due to a bad or missing database configuration

Analysis

The database server is down, or the server cannot be reached from the Process Commander server over the network, or the database configuration within the prconfig.xml file or application server is incorrect.

Action

1. Confirm that the database server is running. Confirm that the Process Commander server can reach the database server.
2. Review the database configuration in the prconfig.xml file or in the application server.
