On a Visio flow diagram representation, a Router Pool shape contains one or more Swimlane shapes. Swim lanes organize and graphically identify a related group of task shapes that are performed within a specific work context (typically a work group). By default, when you drop a new swim lane on the diagram, the lane is framed inside a Router Pool shape. You cannot delete the only lane in a pool — you must delete the router pool. Older releases

In releases prior to V5.5, pools and swim lanes defined and separated processing performed by distinct organization units within one division, or that depended upon the value of a work object property. Pool and swim lane shapes in such versions function as originally configured in V5.5 and later. You cannot add additional lanes for organization units or property values.

As a best practice, upgrade these to router pools, which use swim lanes that employ router activities. This enables you to more precisely direct assignments to worklists and workbaskets.
