Back Forward Help: Define Properties wizard
Step 1 — Completing the Define Properties form

About the Property wizard

Complete the Define Properties form to create one or more property rules in one class.

Field

Description

RuleSet Name

Select a RuleSet for the new properties. B-24447 BUG-127

RuleSet Version

Select a version number of the RuleSet for the new properties.

Complete the following fields for each property you want to create. Order is not significant. Click Array to add a new row of fields.

Description

Enter a short description that describes the new property.

Name

By default, the system fills this field with an identifier based on the description in the Description field. You can overwrite the default and specify a different name to identify the property. Use names that start with a letter and include only alphanumeric and dash characters. See How to enter a Java identifier.

For additional restrictions and advice on best practices, see Property rules — Completing the New or Save As form.

Mode

Select a mode for the property. The property mode determines how the system represents the property data. After you create a property rule, you cannot change the mode. You can't create properties of any of the Java Object modes with this wizard. C-2269 5.2

Type

Select a type that further defines the mode. For value modes (Single Value, Value List, and Value Group), the property type determines the kind of data that values of the property represent, and can affect the format and allowable characters. For page modes (Page, Page List, Page Group), this field identifies a class for the value of the page property.

 Finish

Click  Finish   when you have completed all desired rows and do not want to specify how any of the Single Value properties are presented. A confirmation form lists the properties created.

 Next >>

Select to continue on in the wizard to specify how the single value properties are presented. See Define Properties wizard — Step 2.

 Cancel

Select to exit the wizard without saving your entries.
