System category — High Availability Landing pages

The High Availability landing pages are visible when the PegaRULES:HighAvailabilityAdministrator and PegaRULES:HighAvailabilityQuiesceInvestigator roles have been added for an operator. There are two pages:

HA Cluster Settings

You can use landing pages to quiesce nodes. From the Designer Studio menu, click System > High Availability > HA Cluster Management to open the High Availability Cluster Management page.

High Availability Cluster Management

You must have the correct user privileges described below to see this page. Pega 7 cluster management pages use the system pulse to communicate. Data is accurate after two pulse cycles. Due to this delay, the use of this page is not recommended for large organizations as it may not provide an optimal production experience.

Data

The table below describes the data shown on this page.

Column	Description
NODE	The name of the node.
NODEID	The node ID.
RUNSTATE	The state of the node. Statuses are Running, Stopped, Quiesce Complete and Quiesce Start.
ACTIVE USER	The number of active users.
LAST PULSE	The date and time of the last system pulse.
LAST STARTED	The date and time that the node was last started.

Actions Available

Perform the following options on this page.

Action	Description
Quiesce	Choose a node or nodes and click this button to quiesce. Note that you must take the node out of the load balancer rotation before you do this. Refer to the High Availability Administration Guide on the PDN for details.
Cancel Quiesce	Choose a node or nodes and click this button to cancel quiesce.
Refresh Data	Refresh the data listed.

From the Designer Studio menu, click System > High Availability > HA Cluster Settings to open the High Availability Cluster Settings page.

High Availability Settings

Perform the following actions to set the Crash Recovery and accelerated passivation options on this page:

Under Crash Recovery, select the “Enable server crash recovery on this cluster” check box to enable crash recovery. You must perform a rolling restart of the server for this cluster wide setting to take effect.
Select “Enable end user messaging of a crash event” to send messages to end users about a crash event.
Under Quiesce, enter the number of seconds for accelerated passivation in the text box. The minimum number is 5 and the maximum is the browser timeout. Values larger than the browser timeout will be ignored.

Privileges

Use the privileges below for high availability.

pxHighAvailabilityAdmin - Operators with this privilege may access the HA settings landing pages from Pega 7. The settings are cluster wide.
pxQuiesceAdminControl - Operators with this privilege are not quiesced along with other users. Their count is not considered in the total number of active users on the node. Possession of this privilege allows a user to log in to a system that has been or is being quiesced. Once logged in the user can perform diagnostics or debugging.
pxHighAvailabilityAdminQuiesce - Operators with this privilege may access the High Availability Cluster Management landing page. In situations where cluster management is handled by operations centers this privilege will not be granted.

Roles

Use the roles below for high availability.

PegaRULES:HighAvailabilityAdministrator - Grant access for High Availability cluster administration and quiesce investigation. Cluster administration in this context is access to cluster management and high availability settings that are accessible on Pega 7 landing pages. This role has the following privileges:

- pxQuiesceAdminControl
PegaRULES:HighAvailabilityQuiesceInvestigator - Grant access for High Availability quiesce investigation. This role has the following privileges:
