Working with Application Overview details

The Details section of the Application Overview landing pages helps you quickly access components that comprise your application profile. When you click a component name, a modal or landing page opens. Use this topic to understand all of the different options you can use to configure a particular component.

Ensure that you unlock your application to make all options available.

Requirements

Click this option to launch the Requirements tab of the Application Profile landing page.

You can add or edit requirements for your project. Requirements are an inventory of events, conditions, or functions that must be satisfied and tracked as the project is developed.

Specifications

Click this option to launch the Specifications dialog box of the Application Profile landing page.

On this tab, you can add or edit specifications for your project. A specification represents processing performed by one or more actors for a given case type in your application.

Releases

Click this option to open the Releases modal.

In this modal, you review or edit a list of releases for your application.

Click Edit to open the list for editing. You can:

Click Submit when you are finished.

Iterations

Click this option to open the Iterations modal.

In this modal, you review or edit a list of iterations for your application.

Click Edit to open the list for editing. You can:

Click Submit when you are finished.

Assumptions

Click this option to open the Assumptions modal.

In this modal, you can review or edit a list of project management assumptions, such as the division of development responsibilities.

Click Edit to make the grid open for edit. You can:

Click Submit when you are finished.

Attachments

Click this option to review a list of existing attachments in the Attachments modal.

Attachments can contain reference materials such as Word files, UML diagrams, PowerPoint presentations, informal sketches, or files from external systems.

Click Edit to view more options for creating and editing attachments.

To add file attachments:

  1. Click Select file(s) to browse to a directory on your local system.

  2. Select a single file, or press the CTRL key to select multiple files.

  3. Click Open.

  4. Review the list of pending new attachments.

    You can update the values in the Description field.

  5. Click Submit to save your changes and close the modal.

Alternatively, you can drag and drop files from an open directory or your desktop to the Drag and Drop Files section of the modal.

 

To add link attachments:

  1. Enter a URL.

  2. Enter a Description (optional). The Description defaults to the URL if the Description field is left blank.

  3. Click Add Link.

  4. Review the list of pending new attachments.

    You can update the values in the Description field.

  5. Click Submit to save your changes and close the modal.

 

To edit file attachments:

  1. Click the name of an attachment to download it to your local file system.

  2. Edit, save, and close the file.

  3. Click the Delete icon to remove the existing attachment from the list.

  4. Follow the instructions for creating an attachment to upload your edited file.

 

To edit link attachments:

  1. Click the Delete icon to remove the existing attachment from the list.

  2. Follow the instructions for adding a link attachment to add your edited link.

 

Actors

Click this option to review a list of actors in the Actors modal. Actors perform work in your application.

Click Edit to make the grid open for edit. You can:

Click Save when you are finished.

The values you specify in this section are used to populate the Actors list on the Documentation tab of the Application form.

The following columns are available in the Actors modal:

Column

Description

Name

The name of the actor.

For example, an application designed for training  new hires can include actor names such as HR Staff Member and Hiring Manager.

Type

The category or type this actor represents.

For example, a human user that participates in business processes is type Operator , while a system that provides data to your application is type External System.

Count

The estimated number of actors of this type that can use the application.

(no label)

Indicates how to interpret the value specified in the Count field.

Options include:Total Users and Concurrent Users.

Frequency

The estimated frequency at which the number of actors specified in the Countfield accesses the application.

Options include: Minute, Hour, Day, Week, Month, and Year.

This option only appears when Total Users is selected.

Access Method

The method by which the actor accesses the application.

 

 

Participants

Click this option to review a list of project resources in the Participants modal.

Click Edit to make the grid open for edit. You can:

Click Save when you are finished.

The following columns are available in the Participants modal:

Field

Description

Role

Text that identifies the project role of the participant.

For example, Release Manager or User Interface Developer.

Type

Identifies the organization to which the participant belongs.

For example, project consultants use the External type.

FTE Identifies how many full-time equivalents with the designated Role are working on the application.
Enablement Plan

Text describing the training courses the participant requires to effectively perform in the designated Role.

Responsibility

Text describing the responsibilities for the designated Role.

Collaborators

Click this option to open the Access Groups & Users tab of the Application Structure landing page.

Use this tab to send an email inviting people to contribute to the development of your application.

For example, a lead business analyst can invite other business analysts to add and update specifications and requirements. They can also invite subject matter experts to review the specifications.

Alternatively, you can click Invite to open the Invite Collaborator window directly.
