Credentials authenticate users or external processes that need to access Pega applications, enabling login with appropriate security permissions. Credentials typically consist of a user name and password. The user name is the key to an Operator ID instance. The password can be stored in that instance (in encrypted form) or in a corporate directory service such as that provided by Microsoft Active Directory.
