A hierarchy uses hierarchical structures and inheritance to support the sharing and specialization of rules.

Three similar but distinct hierarchies are available:

• The class hierarchy governs rule inheritance (Rule-Obj-Class rule type).
• The organization hierarchy affects work item routing and reporting (Data-Admin-Organization, Data-Admin-OrgDivision, and Data-Admin-OrgUnit classes).
• Hierarchy rules support the definition and use of other tree structures in your application (Rule-Define-Hierarchy rule type).
