The platform that hosts your system are identified by a combination of supporting software:

• An operating system, such as Microsoft Windows or Novell SUSE Linux
• An application server, such as Apache Tomcat, IBM WebSphere®, or JBoss®
• A database engine that hosts the PegaRULES database, such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server

Because Pega 7 Platform is based on industry standards—application servers, Java, SQL databases, XML, and HTML—it can operate in a wide range of vendor hardware and software platforms. Your organization can mix-and-match your choices of hardware vendor, operating system, database vendor, and other components.
