stream processing

A stream is a block of text, such as HTML or XML text, that might contain JavaServer Page (JSP) tags, or HTML directives.

Source HTML or XML text that starts with an instance of any of the following rule types that are derived from the Rule-Stream class is processed:

• Control
• Correspondence
• Correspondence Fragment
• Flow Action
• Harness
• HTML
• HTML Fragment
• List View
• Paragraph
• Section
• Summary View
• XML

These rule types are known as stream rule types.

Stream processing interprets and evaluates the JSP tags or directives in the context of the current clipboard. These elements are evaluated as they are encountered from the start of the string. The resulting final HTML or XML contains no JSP tags or directives.
