Covers and folders are built-in facilities that enable your application to support collections of cases. A cover is a case that is a parent to one or more related cases. A folder is a case that holds a collection of one or more cases, including covers and other folders, to provide access for analysis and reporting.
Covers and folders are distinct in the following ways:
As an example, consider a purchasing application in which a case is a line item on a single purchase order. The purchase order corresponds to a cover object, and every line item belongs to one purchase order. Folders organize open purchase order line items by your company's part number and by the vendor's part number. You can associate a folder case (in Work-Folder-OurPartNum work type) with several line items. Also, one line item can simultaneously belong to a Work-Folder-OurPartNum
case and a Work-Folder-TheirPartNum
case.
To review or work with a flow rule that creates a folder case, you can examine or test the standard flow rule PegaSample-Folder.NewWork. The following standard rules support folders:
Instances of the Link-Folder class associate cases with folders.
