Application Profile Specifications tab

The Specifications tab in the Application Profile landing page allows you to review, create, copy, and delete application specifications. Additional options allow you to import/export specifications using Excel and generate a specification Word document.
Access this tab by selecting the Designer Studio > Application > Profile > Specifications menu item.
Using the specifications list
The specifications table is an interactive list that helps you quickly assess the state of your specifications and make modifications without switching context. Unless otherwise noted below, all available options are selected by default. Get started with the following steps:
- Use filters to narrow down results:
- Application — Select the application(s). By default, only your current application is selected.
- Case/Supporting Type — Choose from the list of Case Types defined on your application or any of the supporting Case Types provided by the system.
- Types — Specify how specifications are implemented; by a human, through a decision, by a generated report, etc.
- Status — Select the specification status. For example, you may only want to see
InProgress
specifications or ignore Withdrawn
ones. By default, all status values are selected. - Complexity — Select the level of complexity.
- Release - Select the target release.
- Iteration - Select the target iteration.
- Search — Enter a string in the search box to only see specifications with a matching name or short description.
- Revert all your filter selections by using the Clear Filters button. You can also reset individual filter selections by clicking on the filter name and selecting the Clear All option.
- Choose the presentation mode that best suits your needs:
- List view — displays specifications in a simple list format, without headers. This is the default view.
- Grid view — displays each specification in a formatted table with labeled columns.
- Create or edit specifications on an individual basis.
- Use the Actions menu to export or import specifications in bulk.
- Click Reload to update the table with your changes.
When using the grid view, the specifications table is organized into the following columns. Click on any row to launch the Add/Edit Specification modal.
- Name — A unique identifier for the specification.
- Short Description - The specification's label, typically describing its purpose.
- Status — The current development status.
- Case/Supporting Type — The Case Type or Supporting Type to which the specification belongs. This value represents the type that is processed by the specification.
- Types — How this specification is implemented.
- Complexity — The estimated level of effort to implement the specification.
- Release - The target release.
- Iteration - The target iteration.
- Updated By— The operator who last updated the specification. Click to view the OperatorID form in the work area of the Designer Studio.
- Updated - The time in days when this specification was last updated, relative to the current system time.
- Implementations - Click the icon to open a list of rule types or implementations linked to this specification. The modal allows you to review and remove links. To add new links, refer to the specification form itself. A number appears next to the implementations icon to indicate the number of links to a specification. Not all specifications will have implementations.
Click the gear icon to see the possible actions you can take on a specification, depending on its state:
- Select Copy to create a copy using the Add/Edit Specification dialog.
- Select Discard to undo the current checkout of this specification.
- Select Withdraw to set the availability of this specification to
Withdrawn
and remove it from the grid.
- Select Document to generate a Microsoft Word document with specification information. You will need to close any other Pega 7 Platform initiated Word sessions first.
Note: When using the specifications table in list view, three additional icons are available:

Gives you access to Pulse where you can post comments, upload images or add URLs to supporting information for this specification. Each post is limited to 1000 characters.
- Launches the attachments modal where you can easily attach reference materials related to the specification.

Displays the application requirements that are currently associated with this specification.
