Note: Local data storage replaced data tables. Do not create new data tables.

Create a Database Table data instance by selecting Database Table from the SysAdmin category.

Before you create a Database Table instance, verify the following details:

• The table or view is present in the database schema.
• The Pega 7 Platform class (Rule-Obj-Class instance) exists.

You do not need to create a Database Table instance for each concrete class. At run time, to locate a database table for an object, the system uses pattern inheritance and class groups to locate the appropriate table. If none is found, the system uses the default table pr_other.

Database Table instances created automatically

You can use the following tools and wizards to create database tables indirectly, without using the Database Table form:

• Connector and Metadata wizard — Creates a class and database table instance for an external table.
• Database Class Mappings gadget — Creates a class and database table instance for an external table.
• Data Tables wizard — Optionally creates a dedicated table in the PegaRULES database, and a corresponding database table instance, to hold the rows of the data table.
