Available options in the Case Type Explorer are organized into menus denoted by the icon. Use these menus to access the common tools, wizards, and landing pages that you need to work on your case type hierarchy.
Use the top-level menu to accomplish high-level tasks that are not specific to any one case type. This menu is located next to the Case Types label in the Case Type Explorer.
Import case types — Reuse case types from one of your built-on applications.
This option is not available when your application is built directly on PegaRULES.
Refresh case types — Update the Case Type Explorer with the latest information from your application.
Browse gallery — Launch the Case Management Gallery.
The gallery includes sample rules and case types you can leverage in your application.
Use the case type menu to take action on a specific case type. Hover over a case type name to display this menu.
Open — Open the Case Type rule form for this case type.
Many fields on the Case Type rule form are exposed in Case Designer. As a best practice, use this option only when your use case is not supported by Case Designer.
Add a child case type — Update the parent-child relationships for this case type.
You can add a child by creating a new case type or specifying an existing one.
Rename — Edit the name that appears in Case Designer, the Case Manager portal, and user forms for this case type.
The value you specify updates the Short Description field on the Class rule form for your case type.
Remove — Disassociate a child case type from the immediate parent case type without disturbing other parent-child relationships.
This option removes a child node in the Case Type Explorer. If there are no other parents for this case type, it becomes a top-level case type and appears in the Case Type Explorer as a root node.
This option is not available for top-level case types.
Show in Create Menu — Include the starter flow for this case type in the + Create menu in Designer Studio and the Case Manager portal so that application users can create instances of your case type.
This option is available only if the class for your case type contains a flow with the Creates a new work object check box selected. As a best practice, use this option for top-level case types.
Remove from Create Menu — Hide the starter flow for this case type from the + Create menu in Designer Studio and the Case Manager portal.
You can also access case type menu options by right-clicking any case type name.
