Use Word template rules to incorporate Microsoft Word documents (of .doc or .docx file format) into your application, for use during correspondence generation and inline Word editing. The DOC files can incorporate Word features such as images, styles, macros, and formulas.
Two unrelated Pega 7 Platform capabilities use Word template rules:
Must Edit. Users edit or compose the correspondence item using Microsoft Word on their workstations. The resulting Word document becomes a file attachment of a specific category and can also be sent out as an attachment to an email message. Single Value property has as its value a Word document. Through a clipboard merge operation, Microsoft Word fields in the .doc or .docx file can be replaced by property values, correspondence, and images.Use the Records Explorer to list all Word template rules available to you.
Word template rules belong to the SysAdmin category. A Word template rule is an instance of the Rule-Template-Word rule type.
