You can override aspects of a locking strategy to customize the way that concurrent updates to a child case are processed. By default, a child case type inherits the locking strategy of its top-level case type.
The following override techniques are supported:
Open the child case type in Case Designer.
On the Settings tab, click Locking.
Enter a number of minutes in the Release lock after field that is less than the timeout value for the parent case.
Click Done.
This technique changes the locking strategy for child cases without parents, which are created in a stand-alone fashion.
Use the Case Type Explorer to find the child case type.
Hover over the name of the case type and click Open.
On the Advanced tab of the Case Type form, click a locking strategy.
Notify your development team of the change, because Case Designer always displays the inherited locking strategy, even if it has been overridden.
Open the child case type in Case Designer.
On the Settings tab, click Locking.
Select the Do not lock the parent case when the child case is opened check box.
Click Done.
Optional: Remove specialized versions of the Work-.DetermineLockString activity in your application because they are no longer used.
