Defining required property values for a stage

You can define which property values are required for a stage in the life cycle of a case type. By performing validation, you can ensure that a case contains relevant data before it enters the stage.

  1. In the Explorer panel, click Cases, and then click the case type that you want to open.

  2. On the Life cycle tab, click a stage name.

  3. Click Validation.

  4. In the Set entry validation field, press the Down Arrow key and select the name of a validate rule that defines a set of conditions based on property values in the case.

For example, you can verify that the case has a valid social security number or contact information for at least two character references.

  5. Click Save.

At run time, your application displays an error message when any condition in the validate rule fails.
