Assigning a task in a flow

You can add the Assignment shape to a flow to create a task, such as entering employment history, that a user must perform before a case can move to the next step in the life cycle. By using assignments, you can capture user input in a structured way.

Tip: To develop your flow more quickly, add a process to the life cycle of a case type instead of manually managing components in a flow diagram. Use the Flow form only when you need to configure advanced options that you cannot access from the case type.

For more information, see: Assigning a custom task to a user.

  1. Add the Assignment shape to your flow.

  2. Double-click the Assignment shape to open the property panel.

  3. In the Assignment field, enter a description for the assignment.

  4. Optional: To display instructions to the user at run time, expand the Assignment details section in the Advanced section and enter the name of a field value in the Instructions field.

  5. Click Submit to close the property panel.

  6. Click Save.

You can create a form with fields for an assignment by adding connectors to your flow.
