Configuring the Email channel

You can configure the Email channel as a Pega Intelligent Virtual Assistant in your application by creating different channel interfaces. By associating a case type with an email account, you can support remote case creation in your application.

  1. In Designer Studio, click the name of your application and click Channels and interfaces.

  2. In the Create new channel interface section, click Email.

  3. In the Channel interface name field, enter a name for your channel interface.

  4. Optional: To distinguish this channel interface from other channel interfaces that use the Email channel, enter text in the Description field that describes the purpose of the channel interface.

  5. In the Case type field, select the top-level case type from which cases are created when your application receives an email message.

  6. In the Email account field, select the name of an email account that is not associated with another channel interface or case type.

If there are no email accounts available, you can create one by running the Email Wizard or contacting your system administrator to run it for you.

  7. Wait a few seconds, while your application checks whether the email account is configured correctly.

Your application automatically creates the relevant components, such as a listener, that the email account requires and updates the configuration of the case type accordingly.

  8. Click Save, and then click Done.
