Application types
The uses customizable application types to create applications. When you create an application from an application type, the type defines the wizard steps that gather the information that is needed to configure your new application based on the application type. After you specify the required information in the wizard, the system creates an application with the required case types, data types, access groups, and operators.
Depending on the needs of your business, you can create multiple application types and add them to the wizard, or you can use one of the following sample application types:
- Custom – Use this application type to create an application that contains no predefined case types or data types. Typically, you use this application type if you are familiar with building applications in Designer Studio or Pega Express.
- Request approval – Use this application type to create an application that standardizes the request and approval process.
- Service request – Use this application type to create an application that provides a structure around service requests. This application type provides examples of using field groups to define larger objects, sourcing picklists from data types, and using custom views to capture specific data.
- Task tracker – Use this application type to create an application that captures data to create worklists. As a result, you can create, modify, review, and resolve work items as needed. You can view an audit trail for all cases and specify a service-level agreement for a case to get reminders if work is not progressing in a timely manner.
