Add/Edit Requirement modal dialog
You can launch the Add/Edit Requirement modal dialog by clicking the + Create requirement button at the top of the requirements table, or by clicking on any entry (row) in the table.
Note: Only requirements in unlocked ruleset versions can be modified. If you launch this modal dialog by clicking on a requirement that is in a locked ruleset version, the fields display in read-only mode.
The Add/Edit Requirement modal dialog has the following fields:
- Requirement Name — The name you specify becomes a key part of the requirement and uniquely identifies the rule. For example,
ER_001_Calculate_HW_Cost
. If you provide a name with spaces, the system automatically creates a concatenated string with camel-case formatting.
- RuleSet — The name of the ruleset that will contain the requirement. Choose from the list of rulesets available to your current application stack.
- RuleSet version — A version number corresponding to the specified ruleset name. Choose from the list of available, unlocked versions.
The information on the Details tab describes how a requirement is processed and provides supporting information, such as business objectives and business impact. Complete the following information:
- Category — Organize your requirements by assigning them to categories. Select from the list of standard categories, or you can add custom category values for your project team to use.
- Importance — Select the requirement's priority from the list of standard values, or you can add custom importance values for your project team to use.
- Status — Optional: Select the current development state of the requirement, or you can define custom status values for your project team to use.
- Release — Select the target release for this requirement.
- Iteration — Select the target iteration for this requirement.
- External Req. ID — Provide an identifier that tracks (or refers to) this requirement in external systems.
- Short Description — Enter a short description for this item.
- Description — The expected behavior of the requirement and required steps to complete it. Do not enter information about exception paths. These are defined by other requirements in the application.
On the Associations tab, all associated or linked rules display in a table format. Columns include rule type, name, ruleset, and ruleset version.
